About Judy Vartan

I have been exploring various mediums of visual expression as long as I can remember. Depending upon the medium – pen and ink, oil, watercolor, encaustic, hand-cast paper assemblages, acrylic – my work ranges from realism to impressionism to abstract expressionism. The medium I choose often determines the artistic style. Starting with a blank canvas and creating an image not only reflects the world around me but the emotions within me. Painting has been a passion releasing joy and contentment when I am happy, and when I am sad, it is cathartic.
